The Slight Edge: Turning Simple Disciplines into Massive Success & Happiness

One of the most compelling books I have ever read about how to change your life; literally one step at a time. This book is very powerful as it talks about taking small, consistent action steps towards an objective you set yourself. Although often you won’t see any immediate effect from your actions, slowly if you continue to take action you are creating a compounding effect that will result in you achieving your goal. I’d recommend this book to anyone who is struggling to reach their goals or needs to be reminded about the principles of sticking at something that is important to you

As an Account Manager you’re often asked to put together client presentations containing numbers e.g. statistics, charts, figures, graphs etc. Often presenting this kind of data can be boring and monotonous for your audience but thanks to tediously repetitive number-laden presentations can become a thing of the past by turning your slides into infographics. has a simple to use drag and drop function and many ‘done for you’ templates that you can simply edit to create interesting graphics.

If you can see an opportunity to use Infographics in your presentation and want to learn how to use, here’s a tutorial to get you started:

Dropbox. A free cloud-based file sharing service

Struggling to send large files to clients? Sign up for a free Dropbox account and end the misery of receiving ‘file too large’ messages. It’s easy to drag and drop files into a folder and share the link with your client. When you share a link you can either invite them to join Dropbox too (for every introduction your file storage allowance increases) or you can share a ‘public’ folder with them which means they don’t have to join.

Dropbox is quick and easy to use and because it’s cloud-based, you can access your account from anywhere.

Be the first with the news: Google Alerts

If you’re looking to impress your client, then sign up for Google Alerts. You can set up an email alert to bring you related news from the web for your search term.

For example, the search term could be your client’s brand name, company name or competitor names. This means you’ll get all the latest juicy news sent straight to your inbox as often as you request. Which means you can be the first one to pass this on to your client!

Don’t forget if you receive an interesting, relevant piece of information that you just know your client will love, make sure you spend the time to read the article yourself and add a covering note explaining why you think this information is relevant. It’s not enough just to send it straight on. You need to add some value first.

Finding your key strengths

Many people spend lots of time trying to fix their weaknesses rather than focusing on enhancing their an incredible book that advocates the latter.

The book contains a sealed code in the back that you can input into a webpage and then answer a series of questions.

At the end you’ll receive a report that tells you what your 5 key strengths are.

I’ve given this book to a few of my (very skeptical) friends and even they were impressed with the results!
